So we sell a hard working, honest, goal scoring Englishman for say, £25m, to those shitcunts and then spunk that money on a couple of £10m punts and a couple of Freddie Freemans? ...And you KNOW that's what would happen.

Fuck that. For all his limitations he is a player that makes things happen, granted not always good things, but he impacts on matches, works his bollocks off, scores important goals and never hides.

I'd have Antonio over any foreign mercenray punt any day of the week.

I don't think it is out of the ordinary. But sometimes I'm asked to describe how I come to the conclusions that I do.

I think within the football industry they do have to formalise the process a lot more. There's no point just working within a club and saying 'I think we should buy player X' with no supporting evidence.

How much money have you won playing poker?

"it comes mainly from 15 years+ of studying poker strategy."

so your a super rich poker star, right?

no, didn't think so, because not everything is about statistics and analytics......

Re: Chelsea Want Antonio...???
so basically what your describing there is just the ability to think and consider different factors. That shouldn't really be out of the ordinary V dog.

>>> How exactly does this model valuation system work V? Am I right in thinking you just overlay some quantitative process onto your subjective views to give the impression of objectivity?

I think you make it sound more scientific than it is. What we all do when we come up with a valuation is consider a bunch of evidence that we know or discover, and then make a judgement on how the contradictory bits of it might play out into an overall view. And in football as in many subjects no objectivity really exists - if it did any other interpretation would be pointless. We're ultimately just trying to improve our sense of a thing aren't we, and in this case the transfer market.

Which is all anyone in football is doing anyway. Who's to say they know any better than us?

>>> Have you got Aspergers/Autism?

I don't think I do, no. But I do have a very analytical approach to most things - it comes mainly from 15 years+ of studying poker strategy. But also, I suppose, from many years of having to justify my opinions on here and studying the game in order to improve them.

Re: Chelsea Want Antonio...???
Just double-checked. I valued Kouyate at £25m last Summer, but only worth selling at £40m+. As close as I come to deeming a player unsellable. Antonio my selling price was £25m+.

Alex V 5:57 Wed Jan 4
Re: Chelsea Want Antonio...???
Last Summer I would have Kouyate as our most valuable player. I think I valued him at £35m+. I would have to say he's dropped in value since - most of our players have.

Payet is hard to value. It really massively depends on the small handful of clubs who can attract him.

JustAFatKevinDavies 5:51 Wed Jan 4
Re: Chelsea Want Antonio...???
out of interest V, what price tag would you put on Kouyate were he able to pass a football to another West Ham United footballer.
